Date night

Last night Juli and I had a date night because Grandma Brenda and Aunt Susie wanted to come out and see the kids. Juli decided she wanted to spend our date night at my health club because it was a free guest day. So that's what we did. I felt she was entering the only independent activity I currently have, but I want to keep her happy. At the club I think Juli quickly learned that I probably haven't been working out very hard as I was huffing and puffing as we swam laps in the pool. You see, I have been treating the health club like a resort minus the booze since I joined 2 weeks ago. I spend a lot of my time floating around in a therapy pool that's about 90 degrees. While other people are in there working through injuries and swimming in the nearby lap pool, I am actually thinking what would happen if I brought in a floating lounge chair and some cocktails. Its very relaxing at my health club but floating around on multi-colored noodles is not all I do during my regular work outs. I 'm sure Juli was happy to see that I do multiple sets of interval training as well. I rotate from the hot tub to the steam room to the sauna and then a quick dip in the chilly lap pool for a cool down just to take the edge off. I could see Juli was impressed with my daily routine.

After our intense work out I felt we deserved I nice dinner at Bogart's steak house. Knowing that it was lent and Juli and I are Catholic Juli ordered the Broiled Halibut and I ordered a 36 oz porter house steak.. I stayed away from the 4lb sirloin that would have been obnoxious. I also gave up beer for lent( Seriously) so I ordered miller lite. Juli had a Chardonnay, then another, then another, then another, and then it kind of got crazy. Three of our supervisors were Drinking at a nearby watering hole and Juli thought it would be cool to stop in and "talk some shit" (Juli said this in a low crackly voice that sent a chill down my spine) Four glasses of wine is more than she has put down in 3-5 years. We stopped by to see the bosses as Juli proceeded to talk some shit and have a good time with my work buddies along with 2 more glasses of wine. Pretty soon it was time to go as Juli's laughter filled the room.

When we got home Grandma Brenda enjoyed seeing juli in her condition and we all had fun visiting with 1997 Juli.

Side note- 3:15 pm Juli gets out of bed- Oh I'm glad your blogging.. Tim will be happy to read it. I hope she will too.

Health Club concerns-

Why do the majority of dudes walk around naked in the locker room? I see guys leaning over the sinks that we all use with nothing on while shaving. Guys even come in the hot tub with me totally naked. and sit uncomfortably close. When I'm sitting down i regularly have butt in my face as guys try really hard to dry their ankles at close range with their backs to me. This has always been my experience at health clubs and when I talk about with my friends and co-workers they all act as if they would be bothered by all the swinging sausage and butt in the locker room too. Yet I feel like I'm the only one who wears trunks in the hot tub and steam room. I even see guys have trunks on in the pool and come in the locker room and start skinny dipping with me in the tub with them. WTF

WTF indeed Ken. I am sure to keep my trunks on when I do anything but take them off to put my clothes back on. Then again, if I was packing more heat I may be one of those guys shaving or holding a conversation with you with one foot on the bench and my elbow resting on my knee. Did I mention I would be standing uncomfortably close to you also.

Yeah, well men are KNOWN for trying to prove something. Whether it is proving their manhood or being fearless no matter what. Your description sounds like the prelude to another "JackAss" show.

ken, i work at a fitness center. naked men are a work hazard to me all the time. if for some reason i have to go in the mens locker room i try to look at the ceiling and get out in under a minute. many of my friends who work out can relate to your experience lol.
